No one listens these days
Mental health is being talked about more than ever. The importance it holds in keeping you happy, satisfied and always ready to go is immense. A lot of athletes have come out in support of it when they encountered media and their disturbing, dubious questions.
Listening is an important part of helping someone who happens to be in a problem. A lot of times, it's the talking that helps people with dealing with the atrocities. Advice or financial help or guidance on governance isn't always needed. Sometimes, it's just listening to people talk about their problems that does the job. Don't say anything. Just nod, or smile, or extend your hand. Just stay there with them in silence.
The tranquillity of the moment is sometimes the greatest support you can offer.
Yet, it is difficult. Not saying anything even when you're dying to give advice is difficult but controllable. And yet, that almost never happens. People open their mouths and it's the same talking extravaganza again.
It is almost like you are living in someone else's echo chamber. Learn when to listen and when to talk.
Stop talking, start listening.
